Antonio Cromartie 92 Ovr, 97 Speed
Dominique Rogers-Cromartie 82 Ovr, 97 Speed
Justin Miller 75 Ovr, 98 Speed
Orlando Scandrick 73 Ovr, 97 Speed
Justin King 72 Ovr, 97 Speed

Woodson should be a 94, he is the best CB on that team.

I thought i liked these ratings... that was until i noticed there are 23 SHUTDOWN CORNERS NOW IN THE NFL......... HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA WOW... guys like kelly jennings and fred smoot are shutdown... ellis hobbs is 1 point away from shutdown... dear god ea has lost its mind

As long as Nnamdi is given 99 man coverage and is a "smart" and "press" corner than I am generally okay with the ratings. So, not too man complaints here.

Yet again, the Dallas is overrated. Newman deserves his ratings no doubt, but Henry should represent a liability in that secondary, which he is and has been. But instead they make him one of the best #2 corners in the game when he should have no better than an 80-82 rating, if that. That team's weakest area on the field is their secondary and EA gave them an awesome corner tandem, which is ridiculous. While I think Jenkins wil be awesome, they can not justify gibing a late first round corner with average NFL athleticism an 82 overall and very good coverage skills across the board. Why are his coverage skills far and away superior to those of Leodis McKelvin's? Either base the ratings off of their actual skills or base them off of their draft slotting, but don't play favorites. Since when do the Redskins have one of the best base nickle defenses in the NFL with two "shutdown corners?" Their corners are average at best and they do not have a single corner worthy of a "shutdown" label. You can argue Rogers as a "press corner" but neither Springs nor Smoot should be higher than an 84 overall at this point. Kelly Jennings is slightly-above-average starting corner, not even close to being "shutdown."

Upon further review, these ratings are ridiculous.....

There are only 7 "shutdown corners" in the NFL today.

Champ Bailey
Rashean Mathis
Terence Newman
Marcus Trufant
Al Harris
Charles Woodson

Chris McAlister, DeAngelo Hall, Quentin Jammer, Charles Tillman, and Leigh Bodden are other corners who have legitimate arguments to be on the list. But no one, other than these 13 players should even be MENTIONED when talking about "shutdown corners."

The speed on these guys is all wrong. It seems like EA just perceives certain guys as fast and others as not so fast. This is the one rating that they should be able to nail almost every time. Just about every player has a recorded 40 time. Perfect example. Chris Houston speed of 96. His real life 40 time was 4.33 sec.

Eric Wright has a speed rating of 92. His real 40 time was 4.36 How does .03sec relate to 4 points of ratings?

Then there is Deangelo Hall. Speed of 98. his 40 time is off the charts at 4.15 sec. But Fabian Washington has a speed rating of 98 as well, but his real 40 time was 4.25 sec. That’s a full 10th of a second and he has the same speed rating. I just do not get it.

Tommy trojan, we both agree here for once... this is an absolute joke... shutdown corners are a very rare thing, but madden seems to think every team has one almost... this is such a joke, i was happy at first seing my team's ratings, then started seeing how inflated every team's corners are, and im like wtf... such BS..

They should put pacman jones in the game this year because theres no doubt that he will be reinstated by the start of the season and i bet that he would be rated between 85 and 90 ovr.

Leodis Mckelvin is known for his crap ball skills they should have made his catch mid 60's so they could have added more to his mcv,zcv etc. it's like they almost rated Jenkins as Mckelvin and Mckelvin as Jenkins

Terence Newman should have his catch dropped from 79 to 74 and his prc raised from 85 to 88. Terence Newman is definately one of the best in the game though.

Are they serious? After the season Leon Hall had for the Bengals, His stats didn't move at all. He was on the short list for rookie of the year and he's an "80" still. I'm guessing they just forgot to do the bengals. Joseph and Hall should both be at least 85's.

Champ definitely deserves a tackle rating in the high 60s to low 70s but Nnamdi deserves a tackle rating in the high 70s to low 80s, he is he best tackling corner outside of winfield who does not play in a base Cover-2

If you are going to complain about Champ not being able to tackle dont pick out Marlin Jackson and say he is overrated in that area....dudehas always been a good tackler eve when he was at scUM.

Had he been a bit bigger he couldve played linebacker and even as a safety he is top of line at bring the ball carrier down.



As for the ratings in general, all I can tell is that,

1.Nnamdi deserves his 99 MCV.
2.If stanford Routt or Twon Branch develop, The raiders will have an a top 5 secondary
3.Mike Jenkins a 89 MCV?? Sure hes the best MCV rookie CB but, 89 is higher than like 7 of the top 40 CB's.
4.Ashton Youboty is better than a 71, I've seen him play in person and he's better than jabari greer, stats might not show it because he's only in on subs or distance plays but he should be around a 75 or 76.


And no don't think i'm a fan of the Raiders,Dallas or Buffalo.. I'm a miami fan and for me to complement 2 teams we play once(Raiders) and twice (Buffalo) shows that i'm not favoriting my own team.

Jereme Perry - not well known but runs a 4.3 forty. He was only given an 89 speed rating. Doesn't seem like too much thought was put into backups (but then again, there never is).

That's not a true statement. They didn't lead the league getting beat deep. Joseph and Hall combined for 9 Int's and the tandem LED THE LEAGUE in passes defensed. The bengals's problem was shotty safety play, broken coverages, and no pass rush. That CB tandem will be one of the best for years.

Raiders cbs r da best

I really hope that the Dolphins do something about their CBs. The difference between 1-15 and 15-1 (the playoffs) is DEFENSE and we need to bulk up these category!

Ok im a huge cowboys fan and i will admit that

but i need to critic yall alittle bit....
1.Anthony Henery was leading the nfl in interceptions untill he was sidlined with a high ankle sprain for over 4 weeks.
2.Jaques Reeves was the secondary liability for the cowboys along with roy williams.(not to mention when henery was in Terence Newman was sidlined at the start of the season.
3.They should definitly have Pacman in the game he already has partial reinstatement. And if he stays clean he will have full reinstatement at the first of the season.
4. Pacman hasnt played in a year so no way he can be a 90 but i would put him mid 80s tho.

They continue to overrate the cowgirls ! why do they wait until terrence newman turns 30 to give him a 97 in speed,if i recall correctly he got ran down pretty bad by lee evans from like 20 yards away last year even though they're both fast. on top of that they make his man coverage go up and take nate clements down..lol nate doesn't have demarcus ware and grege ellis to rush the quarterback and take pressure off of him like newman does

Colts had the #1 or #2 pass defense in the NFL last year but their corner ratings don't show it at all, their safeties (Sanders & Bethea) better be monsters to make up for it

I have a question off topics but does anybody notice that Cb reacted to the ball in the air way better and faster then the actually Wr? try throwing a 12 yrd curve and you will see both the Cb and the Wr turn around when the ball is in the air but the Wr Stands there and actually runs to the ball in real life hell in high school they tell us don't wait for the ball go get it im wondering will they still have that in 09 cuz if they do madden still sucks

Champ Bailey's speed should be faster he ran a 4.28 in the 40-yard dash. He speed should at least be back at 98 or 99. He is the best CB in the NFL. 6 more INT's to break Deion Sanders INT's. Champ Bailey is way better than anyone.

Everyone get off the eagles nuts lito sheppard is gone before the season starts. Stop complaining about the shutdown corners because if you have been paying attention to the other ratings you could have seen it coming. I think the concept now when it comes to making madden is to make everyone happy and keep the teams as close as they possible can. Whether its having better corners, lb's, safetys or d line. Fuck it updates will eventually come and all of us we ll still have fun playing madden like we always had.

Based off what we saw from Pacman before he was suspended,he should be at least a 90 overall. b/c he was the best corner in the game , but since he was out for a year 90 would be good. He is doing great at training camp and is in great shape. He has been training with Primetime ,so he hasnt lose much. At least 97 speed,99 agility and acc, 92 man coverage & zone coverage,prs. At least 78 catching.90 tackle and 86 hit power.

O yea how does Cromartie have 11 or 12 picks but champ has 3 but he is still the best. He had a off year,but just weird to me. Note had 1 or two in the pro bowl.

Madden 09 they messed it up one to many time ,the Steelers had the one defense all year and once again they sell us out. my corner r not shutdown corners i know that , so show them some love madden please, but my defense on a whole is by far the best in the game ,Lamar Woodley nobody knows , he had 6 sack off the bench . your FS Ryan Clark was our mvp for the first part of the season until he go hurt , James Harrison first year starter replacing #55 was a beast with over 6 force turnover , with a first year coach . on the other hand the cow girls are rated off the charts , a cant win a playoff game , with no major player missing .
